Why the University of Calgary?


The University of Calgary offers excellent training in economics at both the Master's and PhD level. Our program trains leaders in environmental economics, energy economics, international trade, public finance, industrial organization, and labour economics. Recent private sector placements include Twitter, Citi Group, RBC Bank, RS Energy, Charles River Associates, Canadian Pacific, TransAlta and Enbridge, among others. Government placements include Central Bank of Mexico, Industry Canada, Alberta Utilities Commission, Inter-American Development Bank, Statistics Canada, to name a few.


The department offers competitive scholarships and positions as teaching and research assistants to help fund students’ living costs and tuition during their program.
