I am not an Honours Student, how do I get permission to enroll in Econ 387, 389, or 497? |

Prior to August 25, admission into these three classes is restricted to students in the Honours program. On August 25, registration in all three classes is opened up to all students on a first come, first served basis.

What is the deadline for applying for Honours? |

Application for Honours is normally done electronically through the infonet at the time of fall registration. The official deadline is June 1, but the Department of Economics continues to recommend qualified applicants to the Faculty of Social Sciences throughout the summer.

Can I enroll in Econ 557 or Econ 559 with Econ 387 as a co-requisite? |

It is not possible to enroll in Econ 557 with Econ 387 as a co-requisite. It is possible to enroll in Econ 557 or Econ 559 with Econ 389 as a co-requisite but permission of the honours advisor and the instructor of the 500 level course is required. For permission, students must normally have obtained a grade of A- or better in Econ 387. Exceptional students may be granted permission to enroll in Econ 559 with Econ 387 as a co-requisite.

Can I enroll in Econ 387 with Math 211 (or 221) as a co-requisite? |

Typically the answer is no, but where the alternative is an undue hardship and the student's academic record is stellar, a case can be made to the honours advisor and the instructor of Econ 387 for consent.

What happens if I was denied entry into the honours program, but upon completion of my degree I meet all of the requirements for an honours degree? |

When you apply to convocate, apply for the honours degree and if all requirements are met, the honours advisor will recommend to the Faculty that you be awarded an honours degree. |
