Doug is an award winning instructor who has taught approximately 20,000 students in both Canada and New Zealand. He currently teaches introductory macroeconomics, introductory and intermediate microeconomics, engineering economics and the theory of labour supply. The main focus of his teaching and research is looking at the impact of technological change on energy production. Prior to his academic career, he worked as an engineering sales rep in southern Alberta and later as a business analyst on various engineering projects ranging up to $350 million. Doug was instrumental in setting up the Bunny McClintock Memorial Bursary at MRU, which offers financial assistance for students living in poverty. He is also a monthly financial contributor to Wellspring Calgary - an organization dedicated to helping individuals and families cope with cancer.
