About Me:

I received my Ph.D. in 1984 from the University of British Columbia. My first academic appointment was Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, Dalhousie University Halifax. I spent the academic year 1986-87 as visiting Fellow in the Institute of Economics, The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration Bergen, Norway. This was the start of a long association with the Norwegian School. From 1992-1999 I held the position of adjunct Professor in the Institute. I am currently a Distinguished Research Fellow in the Center for Fisheries Economics, at the Norwegian School. In 1992, I accepted an Associate Professor position in the Department of Economics, University of Calgary. I was promoted to Full Professor in July 1997. I was joint Editor of the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics for the period July 1995- June 1998. I am currently Co-Editor of the Marine Resource Economics journal and joint Editor of a volume papers, a festschrift, in honour of Professor Gordon Munro. I enjoy spending time in the mountains around Calgary and Bergen, fishing and reading historical murder mysteries. I continue to struggle in my study of the Norwegian language.
